New Somnous EP "POSTCARDS" Available June 15th
Also, a write up of Postcards by Kate Orlowski, a glimpse of the awesomeness you guys can look forward to:
This inspired collaboration, with producer Matt Malpass and Lydia frontman Leighton Antelman, marks a new direction for hip-hop artist Somnous. From the dreamy “Beautiful”, with it’s ethereal, winding melody, to the hard-hitting “Here We Go”, Somnous takes a more pop-centric approach, focusing on catchy hooks and offering a sunnier take on his quixotic style. While Malpass lends a solid foundation, steadying Somnous’ chameleonic tendancies, Antelman’s wistful vocals add a richness and depth that result in a solid, compulsively listenable record. The EP has a lighthearted, summery vibe that feels like an indulgent 18 minute vacation. A couple of must-hear tracks are the evocative, nostalgic “Take Your Places” and the bittersweet ballad “Somewhere, Someday”. Somnous’ whimsical, unpretentious approach to hip-hop is what really makes this album, and he is sure to have you wondering “What will he think of next?”.

The direction of Somnous, new EP, full length album.
So as most of you know, for the past few months I've been going back and forth to Atlanta, Ga to work on a 5 song EP with Leighton Antelman (singer of Lydia, The Cinema) and producer Matt Malpsss (Train, Lydia). I have to say first and foremost that the songs sound amazing and I feel so prilvedged to work with such talented musicians.
All the vocals are tracked and music is finished. Matt is currently in the process of mixing the record. The mixing will be finished in the next week or so, in time for him to head to Australia. But when will it be released? That's the tricky part.
I don't have the exact date but in a nutshell, end of may, beginning of june. How I plan to release it is a difference story. I'm so excited for this music and I truly feel releasing it myself will not give it anywhere the justice it deserves. I will and am doing everything in my power to get it distrbuted with a major record label. So pray for me and that it happens.
Expect a lot of performances in the nyc, east coast area in anticipation of the new tunes and as the music spreads, a tour throughout the country, and a full length album optimiscally by the end of the year.
So in closing, I'm very excited for you guys to own the first music I've made in years. I guarantee that you will NOT be disapointed and its definately worth the wait. 2012 has been and will continue to be a wild ride.
